The natural beauty of New Zealand’s South Island is legendary the World over. Famous now as the setting for Lord of the Rings this is still a landscape unspoilt by man, little developed and yet still crossed by a limited network of very quiet roads. So what better way to explore this beautiful land than by bike?
This tour combines great cycling with high quality accommodation and excellent food to offer a truly unique holiday experience. Best of all there is almost no time wasted in road transfers as the trip goes along – once the riding begins you have the satisfaction of completing a great journey under your own steam.
All rides are covered by maps, which you’ll be given at the start of each day, so if you wish to ride more quickly than the group or do extra mileage on the optional sections then you can blaze ahead. For most riders, though, the enjoyment comes from joining a group of like-minded people who want to explore this beautiful corner of the World with a vehicle and guide to move the bags, set up lunches and look after the logistics so they can spin freely along!
