Overview
CycleActive has been based in The Lake District since 1996 and no-one is better placed to show you the very best this region has to offer. Unlike much of the country the Lakes is blessed with an incredible network of natural rock, stone, hardpack and slate trails – so although there may be surface water after rains, we seldom ride in mud.
The weekends are aimed at middle ability riders who want to enjoy full days out, exploring the mountains, trails and remote terrain that characterise the region. With expert guides to lead the way we make sure you get to enjoy the area to the full. If the group has some weaker or stronger members we can even flex routes to drop people off early or give the fitters ones extra, more demanding loops to ensure that they end the day feeling fully tested.
We use good guesthouses for all weekends, so you just arrive any time on Friday, enjoy a comfy night’s sleep and big breakfast then meet your guide in the morning for the start of a great riding experience. After each day of biking we enjoy afternoon tea with homebaked cakes, and after the last day we usually keep a room free for showering in, before you head home.
Night Ride Weekends (NR)
If you enjoy night rides and want to get out in the mountains with your lights, and an expert guide to lead the way, join one of our winter weekends. Any date shown on the right as a Night Ride (NR) weekend will still have two full day rides included, but we’ll also head out for a night ride on Saturday.
This is optional – most riders come in from their day ride, enjoy the tea, cakes and chance to relax, then kit up and head out into the dark. But if you prefer to chill out in the guesthouse or find a cosy local pub, the choice is yours. We do have a limited number of sets of Hope lights available to rent for a small fee, should you need them.
