| The highest summits of North Africa are in Ethiopia, and in fact the Ethiopian Plateau is the largest mountain range on the continent. This country – the size of France and Spain combined – is the only African nation that successfully resisted colonisation. As a destination for real exploration and a land full of surprises, from the proud people to the incredible history to the breathtaking beauty of the countryside, Ethiopia is hard to beat. Note for 2010 We have been biking in Ethiopia since 1998 but for 2010 we are completely redesigning the tour. Our aim is to take in stunning sights like the rock carved churches of Lalibela, the Blue Nile Gorge, Simien Mountains and the fortified city of Gondar.
