The rolling green hills, the Cambrian Mountains and beautiful hidden valleys that stretch across Mid-Wales form the backdrop to this 2-day cycle challenge. From Shrewsbury the route sets out across the English-Welsh Border and takes you across the principality to the picturesque coastal town of Aberystwyth.
This is one of the UK’s less well known long distance cycle trips, but it has all the character, scenery and challenges you expect from a well-crafted Sustrans Cycle Route. 113 miles of signed route pass through market towns, along Roman roads and climbs high in to the Cambrian Mountains, passing alongside the impressive hydro electric dams of the Elan Valley.
With a choice of routes over the mountains available, this tour can cater for riders wanting to explore off-road trails or stay on smooth tarmac, as well as having some short cuts for those who do not want to cover the full 113 miles.
Our trips complete this route in two full days of cycling – that’s achievable for people with a moderate level of fitness that are used to consecutive days in the saddle. We also make best use of the weekend, so you arrive with us on a Friday evening and complete the ride on Sunday afternoon before we take you back to Shrewsbury for your homeward journey.
What we provide is:
Two nights good accommodation
Bag transfers each day, so you need only cycle with your daily snacks and toolkit
Pre-tour and on-tour advice and information
Return transport from the finish
Shower room for after the ride, so you can travel home in comfort
This package takes away all the hassle associated with multi day bike rides, enabling you to concentrate on enjoying your cycling, either on your own or as part of a group of like-minded individuals.
