Mountain Biking Courses
Youth Development
Holiday Programme

Throughout the school holidays of 2008 Brougham Hall will become the venue for a whole range of courses for young cyclists and mountain bikers. This program of non-residential courses is great for those who want to visit Cumbria for their own leisure activities, or are already based in the county, and whose children would much prefer to be mountain biking. Simply drop them with us in the morning and then enjoy your free time, knowing that they are safe, happy and developing new skills.
Five-day course
Want to help a youngster build an amazing mix of mountain biking skills in just one week? Sign them up for our 5-day camp and see their confidence, trail riding abilities and many other skills rise to new levels. They will enjoy superb Lake District riding, bike maintenance training, work on bike control and balance, navigation and mountain safety.
This course has been carefully planned to allow riders of any level progress quickly and confidently using the latest coaching techniques from the CTC Instructor Programme. We include skill sessions at our training area in Brougham Hall then move on to mountain bike rides that start in various locations nearby. With the best professional instructors on hand throughout the five days we offer fast, flexible and enjoyable learning.
Two-day course
In two days we cover a whole range of mountain bike riding skills, work on balance and bike control, and enjoy some great riding on the Lake District trails. This is a great course to choose if you want to enjoy a weekend or week break in Cumbria but your young bikers would rather be biking.
Day 1 is based at Brougham Hall, just south of Penrith, for skills development followed by a ride on local trails. Day 2 starts at a nearby village for a full day in the hills, broken up with coaching sessions and practice on a whole range of mountain bike tracks and trails before finishing back at the Hall.
Three-session course
This series of 2-hour skills sessions is great fun for all children. Based out of Brougham Hall, this course is run over 3 successive days as we cover a range of bike riding skills on our specially constructed courses. You’ll be amazed at the progress made in such a short time.
We also offer discounted bike rental for parents who want to go for a short ride on the backroads of the Eden Valley while children are being instructed, or who want to go for a family ride when the session is finished.
We do not believe in giving young riders entry level instructors and making them learn in big groups. Each course is run with a maximum ratio of eight participants to one very highly qualified and experienced member of our coaching team (for rides out) or 12 to one for Hall-based sessions. This ensures the highest standards of safety, the best possible learning and a truly professional and personal service. |
