These one and two day courses provide highly practical, comprehensive first aid training for anyone heading into remote terrain, either alone or with a group. Working in small groups you will learn how to manage a whole range of emergency and first aid situations.
There are two courses to choose from:
Outdoor Emergency Action
(One-day course, 8 hours)
A basic life saving first aid course covering all essential techniques for dealing with and managing a casualty in a remote environment. Ideal for anyone who participates in outdoor activities. No previous first aid knowledge is required.
Course content:
- Assessing vital signs
- Incident management
- Unconscious collapse & airway management
- Bleeding & circulation problems
- CPR
- Regulations & best practice
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate from ITC, which is HSE approved and valid for three years. This 8 hour course can be used as the first module of the 16-hour course (see below).
Outdoor Emergency Incident Management
(Two-day course, 16 hours)
This in-depth course is ideal for the outdoor person who is away from immediate help for some time. The first day covers the Emergency Action content with the second day going into more advanced techniques and applying these to a range of scenarios.
Additional course content:
- Treatment of injuries
- Environmental considerations
- Common illnesses
- Application to scenarios
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate from ITC, which is HSE approved and valid for three years. This qualification covers the first aid training requirements of many national governing bodies instructor awards, including ML, SPA, BCU, RYA & SMBLA.
First Aid Standards - QCA Recognition
The ITC courses, as delivered by CycleActive, are the only 1 and 2-day Outdoor First Aid courses on the National Database of Approved Qualifications (NDAQ), the Learning Aims Database (LAD) and may be eligible for Learning Skills Council (LSC) funding (J/500/4375). |
